Where It Works
Finished basements, particularly bars, lounges and games rooms.
Retail floors and showrooms where the floor is genuinely part of the presentation.
Offices, studios and reception areas.
Feature rooms in a house, and occasionally a display garage that is not used as a working one.
Where It Does Not
A daily-use garage. Metallic has no flake in it, so it has less texture, and a wet salty boot on a high gloss floor is not a good combination.
Anywhere outdoors, or anywhere in strong direct sunlight.
Industrial and warehouse floors, which need a system chosen for abrasion and impact rather than appearance.
Any slab with a high moisture reading, and metallic is no more forgiving of that than anything else. The test still comes first.
Cost And What Drives It
Expect the top of the Ontario range, roughly eight to twelve dollars a square foot, and note that most of that gap is labour rather than materials.
The design affects it too. A subtle single-tone marble is quicker than a multi-colour pour with a lot of movement in it.
Anti-slip aggregate can be added and does change the look, so it is a decision to make together rather than an afterthought.
